Returns due to a problem or error on our part

We accept returns due to problems or errors on our part for a full refund of the price of the product (or, if you’d prefer, a replacement product, when possible). Examples of a problem or error on our part include:

  • Items received damaged
  • Incorrect item shipped
  • Misprint or manufacturer's defect in the item received

Discretionary returns

We accept returns for any other reason within 30 days of delivery, for a full refund of the price of the product (or, if you’d prefer, a credit toward the purchase of a different product).

Items must be returned unused in the condition in which they were received.

Please note that we cannot provide pre-paid return labels or refund shipping charges for discretionary returns.

To allow additional time for the return of Christmas gifts, items ordered between November 15 and December 25 may be returned within 60 days of delivery. 

How to request a discretionary return online 

  1. Log in to your Catholic Books Direct account (click here to log in)
  2. In the Email field, enter your email address, and then click Continue.
  3. In your email, open the email sent from our store and copy the six-digit verification code included in the email.
  4. Enter the six-digit verification code you received in your email where requested in the login screen.
  5. Click on the order that you want to submit the return for.
  6. If your order has more than one item, then select the items that you want to return.
  7. Select the return reason and add a note if needed.
  8. Click Request return.

Your return request will be reviewed and approved by our team to ensure it is in line with our policies. If there are multiple options to resolve the return (for example, a case where we may replace or refund an item), we will contact you via email to determine the appropriate resolution.

Once your return request is approved, you will receive an automated email with instructions for the return.

If you prefer not to use the automated returns process or need help with a return outside our normal policies, you may also email us at customerservice@catholicbooksdirect.com to request a return.

Exceptions to our return policy

  • Items that have been blessed may not be returned under any circumstances
  • Items in our Clearance section may only be returned for reasons of damage or defect

Unauthorized returns

If a return is received that was not authorized by our customer service department, delivery of the returned items may be refused and returned to you.

At our sole discretion, if the items received are in the proper condition for a return, we may choose to process a refund for the unauthorized return, less any shipping charges, and less a 10% restocking fee.
